Ben Thomson - Chairman

Ben is a physics graduate from Edinburgh University. He started work for Kleinwort Benson in London and then joined the Edinburgh based investment bank, Noble Group in 1990. He became chief executive in 1997 and then Chairman of Noble Group in 2007 until 2010. He is also Chairman of Barrington Stoke, a Scottish publishing company that publishes books for reluctant readers and Chairman of the National Galleries of Scotland.

Ben is also a non executive director of Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust, Fidelity Special Values Investment Trust and the Edinburgh Science Festival. He has been a board director on various other companies including: Scottish Financial Enterprise, Wellington Underwriting plc (a Lloyd's insurance company), Oval Ltd (a broking company) and Canmore (a PFI advisory company).

Ben was a Scottish International athlete, and enjoys most sports especially skiing and triathlon. He also enjoys opera and art.
